August Meeting

August 14, 2025

CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Roll was taken with the following members present:  Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen, and Lisa Schwartz.  

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Molidor, Greg Buescher and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS

NEW STAFF
New staff members were introduced to the board. This includes:  Amy Slough, 5th grade; Corinne Dickerman, Kindergarten; and Tracy Rose, SpEd PreK-3.

AD REPORT
Tyler Duschinsky submitted a report on sports currently in season.  He is working with Press Yours On You to get the gym sports banners updated.

CONSENT AGENDA
Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the consent agenda.   Barry seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz  NAY:  None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Donna Veile shared a report on district enrollment numbers.  She gave an update on the HVAC system and the kitchen/STEM classroom project at the HS.  The district received a grant from the Tracy Family Foundation for the STEM classroom.  She also shared the projected cuts in funding from the state.

FY26 TENTATIVE BUDGET
Schwartz made a motion to approve the FY26 tentative budget and set a hearing for September 18.  Neisen seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

REFEREE PAY
Barry made a motion to increase the referee pay by $20.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz  NAY:  None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Julie Molidor shared enrollment numbers and that the Payson staff earned 1st place and the Mayor’s Choice Award at the OSA parade.  The custodial staff were recognized for their hard work this summer getting the building ready.  Several staff members participated in professional development offered by the ROE over the summer.  She expressed gratitude to the Liberty Christian Church for their Back to School Fair, which was open to Payson students, and to the Muddy River Riders, who once again donated 20 backpacks filled with supplies.  The Payson UMC will again be serving the needs of our students with the  Backpacks With Food Program.  

JH/HS PRINCIPAL REPORT
Greg Buescher thanked the maintenance staff for getting the school into tip-top shape.  He shared current enrollment numbers.  Some upcoming events include Jostens meetings with students and staff training on September 19.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, collective bargaining agreement, and other items appropriate for closed session.  Schwartz seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz  NAY:  None
Moved to closed session at 7:26 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION
Albsmeyer made a motion to return to open session.  Barry seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz  NAY:  None
Returned to open session at 8:22 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM
Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the personnel addendum.  Donley seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz  NAY:  None

ADDITIONAL ITEMS
There was discussion on the brick and tile for the kitchen project.
