SUMMARY OF THE JANUARY 12, 2012
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
The school board meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm The board approved the amended agenda, the consent agenda, keeping the last 6 months of the executive session minutes closed, the 2nd reading of the IASB policies as recommended by the IASA, and a change in the early graduation language in the high school handbook.
Brad Page, Athletic Director, announced the three new inductees into the Hall of Fame. They are Steve Epperson, player; Rod Walton, coach; and the 1978-1979 boys’ basketball team. The induction ceremony will be at the Homecoming Basketball Game on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 6:30 pm.
Paul Harbourn, senior class sponsor, gave the board information on the senior class trip to Florida. They will be gone from April 24th -28th, 2012.
Technology Coordinator, Barb Speckhart, announced enough money has been awarded through grants, with the exception of $218, to fund wireless access, lap top computers and re-charging storage cart.
Bob Ash will coordinate the Sunday Youth Basketball League again this year. It begins on February 12th until April 15th.
Superintendent Veile, updated the board on the Senate Bill 7 (Education Reform Act). It contains information on new evaluation procedures of teacher, new RIF procedures, and new requirements for school board members.
Also, our bus radio system needs to be upgraded by January 2013. Superintendent Veile is looking at what the different businesses have to offer.
Jeff Zanger, Elementary Principal, explained in more detail the new Danielson Evaluation Tool for evaluating teachers. Upcoming Events include:

Brian Maloy, High School Principal, reported he and the teachers are also looking at the new teacher evaluation system. January 23-28, 2012 is Homecoming Week. The Homecoming basketball game is on Friday, January 27 starting at 6:00 pm with the JV game followed by the Varsity game. The dance will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 7:00 pm in the high school gym.
The Board accepted the resignation of Karl Asbury as the assistant high school baseball coach.
The Board re-employed Donna Veile as Superintendent.
The next board meeting will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
